To create the future we wish to see, one of thriving, connection, equality and community, we need to talk about power. We know where today’s power has come from and it is clear that the structures of power, where it sits, with whom and even how we tend to view power has outlived its use.

As a student beginning my journey into impact investing, I entered Katapult Future Fest (KFF) with a simple understanding: using capital for the greater good. However, I soon realized that impact investing encompasses a broader landscape with various areas, factors, and perspectives. While I learned a plethora of knowledge, I will share six key lessons I gained from KFF.

Whole regions and communities have been activated to collectively engage in the complex issues in their region, identify the people and organisations working on the ‘acupuncture points’ for change that could make an outsized impact in the system, and then match those with a wide range of capital and funding to support a whole myriad of solutions.
